                                                                  It Was This Big!
                                                                        7/24/17
Recently my family and I went camping to Placid Lake, Montana. We had a great time and my son and I had a chance to do a little fishing.

There is a gorgeous bay there filled with Lily Pads. Evan, my eight-year-old, and I had been fishing there for about 30 minutes. We had tried different lures and different areas and haven't caught any fish. We were just about to give up.

And all of a sudden when we least expect it Bam, we caught a smallmouth bass. Shortly after that we caught another one even bigger.

It was so much fun to see the joy on my sons face! But if we wouldn't have tried one more time we never would have experienced that joy.

Often I see people quit too early on their health. It takes time and consistency to obtain great health, especially after you've lost it.

Shortcuts like the latest fad diet, medication, or surgery may get you short-term relief, but it's not a strong foundation. Eventually it will fail.

Never, never, never give up on your health. It's your most important asset.

Yours in health,
Dr. McClain

                                                           Waiting....waiting....waiting...
                                                                          7/20/2017
It was painfully slow as I watched my daughter paddle away. The wind was strong and the waves were big.

We were camping and I had taken her kayak down to the water near our campsite. It was easier and quicker for her to kayak around the corner to the swimming area then for me to physically carry it across land.

If you ever paddled a canoe or kayak into the wind you know that it is challenging. So I waited on the shore to see if she was going to turn around.

But she didn't. When I met up with her at the swimming area I told her I was proud of her for not giving up.

That's when she informed me that she did not know that I was waiting for her. Her back was to me and therefore she could not see me. And if she had known that I was waiting she would've turned around.

How often in life do we quit on ourselves because we don't think that we can do something. We don't think we are strong enough, smart enough, young enough, or you fill in the blank enough.

I can remember being in football practice and being challenged physically to give more than I thought I could physically do. Many times I would have quit but I had more fear of the coaches than I did of myself.

In other words, we often push ourselves more for other people or when others are watching than we do for ourselves.

The coaches knew as players that we had more in us then we thought we did.
What would you do differently in your health and life if you didn't think you had the option to quit? If you couldn't turn back to shore, how would you figure out a solution?

I give you permission to push yourself. Everything you desire is just outside your comfort zone.
Yours in health,
Dr. McClain

                                                                    ACRES OF HEALTH
                                                                               7/19/17
Have you ever heard the "Acres of Diamonds" story? It's about a man named Ali who sought a fortune.

He had a nice home and property but, he sold it and went searching for diamonds. He searched the rest of his life but never found the riches he was looking for and died poor.
Meanwhile, The man who bought Ali's home discovered one of the richest diamond mines in the world right there on the property.

The point is that so often we go seeking things that we already have. We think that a certain amount of money or a new car will make us happy.

When in reality being happy is a decision, not the result of a martial object or a trip. I can speak from experience, so many times I thought once I achieved a particular goal it would make me happy.

But if you haven't decided to be happy now, a destination or material thing will not solve that.
It's the same thing with our health. So often people go out searching for the magic supplement for surgery that's going to fix everything.

The reality is that you already have everything that you need inside, just like the acres of diamonds. Your body doesn't need any help, just no interference.

Remove interference from your nervous systems with chiropractic adjustments, eat healthy foods, and reduce chemicals going into your body.

Simple. Not always easy, but simple.

                                                         SPENDING YOUR HEALTH
                                                                         7/13/2017
Have you ever been pulled into the YouTube rabbit hole? You watch one video and then they suggest another similar video and pretty soon you've watched 10 videos.

This happened to me the other day. 20 minutes later I realized I totally lost track of time.
These were purely entertainment videos, not educational. So I "spent" that time, I'm not getting it back.
Now if these would've been educational videos that could have improved my life in the future, it would have been an investment of my time.

Do you see the difference?

Even more important then your money, you want to look at how you are investing your time and health.

Eating at McDonald's = spending your health.
Eating a salad at home = invest in your health.

Watching the bachelorette =spending your time.
Reading a educational book = investing your time.

Now that doesn't mean that we can't "spend" some time doing things for purely entertainment.
But, the amount of time that you "spend" versus "investing" in your time and health will be directly proportional to the quality of your life.

                                                             Dogs and Fancy Restaurants
                                                                          7/11/2017
Although I didn't understand German, I could tell this woman was speaking in a very animated voice. My back was to her so I didn't want to be nosy.

But what was she so excited about? I had to look. And when I finally did, I was quite surprised.

She was having a conversation with her dog. That wasn't so surprising, I like to talk to my dog.

The surprising part was the dog was sitting next to her...in the booth...of a fancy restaurant.
Shortly after graduating from chiropractic school, my roommate and I took a trip to Europe for a couple of weeks.

We had just arrived in Munich, Germany after a long day of travel. We were very tired and hungry and stopped at the first restaurant that we came to.

And thats when I saw the dog. Most places we visited spoke some English, but not at this restaurant.

We ordered "weiners" and "bier" because those were the only 2 words on the menu.
Things like this happened every day when we were there. Every day we were surprised, scared, shocked, and happy.

And That was just at the restaurants!

What allowed me to experience these emotions? My nervous system.
Every emotion that you experience is filtered through your nervous system which runs through your spine.

Receiving chiropractic adjustments helps you adapt better not only with your emotions but every aspect of your health.

If you or someone you know suffers from anxiety, depression or any type of mood disorder, we can help.

DEVIL VS. ANGEL WHO WILL WIN??
                                                                                 7/11/17
Saturday morning I woke up early to go for a run before it got too hot. Did I "want" to run?
No, not necessarily. I was stiff and sore from the work out I had done on Friday. But, I did want the benefits of the run.

Who was going to win the battle inside my head? The disciplined angel on my right shoulder or the rationalizing devil on the left?

"You worked out yesterday, you deserve a day off." "Your sore, what if you injure yourself?", said the devil.

Fortunately, the angel won the battle this time. Why? Because of my Big Why.
To stay consistent with any health regimen, you need to be emotionally invested and have something that's going to keep you excited and charged up.

This can be either to move you away from pain or towards pleasure or both.
For example, if you lived on a mountainside and your only source of water was a mile hike down the mountain and back, You would be in great shape.

You would be motivated by the pleasure of having water and from the pain of not having the water.
Find something outside yourself, like your faith or your family that will keep you on track, even when you want to quit.

                                                           OBSTACLES FOR THE WIN!!
                                                                             7/10/17
What's the biggest obstacle you overcame in your life?
I can think of many but, one of the biggest ones was graduating from chiropractic school. When I first started I didn't think I was smart enough.
I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it. It wasn't easy, in fact there are many times where I didn't think I was going to make it.
But I did! And it was a huge win in my life.
Now I can look back at that time and use it for ammo when the times get tough. I can look back and say I overcame The obstacles back then, there's no reason I can't do it again today.
Take a few minutes and reflect back to your previous wins and the obstacles you have overcome. Use those memories overcome your challenges today!

                                                             WHOSE FAULT IS IT??
                                                                         7/7/2017
I remember years ago I would get sick every Christmas. Just like clockwork.
I would either get the flu or a really bad cold. And I would always be mad.
Mad at the virus or bug that caused me to be sick. Mad because I was missing my holiday.
But who's fault was it? Ultimately we don't get sick from the virus or bacteria, we get sick because of a weak immune system.
Viruses and bacteria are always there, but we don't always get sick.
It was Christmas time and I was eating more sugar than normal. Sugar weakens the immune system.
Whose fault is that? Mine.
It's Christmas time and I was more stressed than normal. I would often close my practice down for a week and always had many things to get done before I left.
I could have chosen to be relaxed about the whole thing but instead I chose to be stressed. Stress weakens the immune system.
Whose fault is that? Mine.
I sat in a car and drove for 14 to 16 hours with very little breaks or movement. That weakens the immune system.
Whose fault is that? Mine.
It's a hard pill to swallow but, we are all 100% responsible for our own health.
Who is responsible for everything you eat? You are.
Who is responsible for how much or how little you exercise? You are.
Who is responsible for how you manage your time? You are.
We can't always control the circumstances or our environment, but we can control how we respond. Put your energy into what you can control.

WHOLE LOT OF SHAKING GOING ON
                                                                                 7/6/2017

If you live in Montana I'm sure you probably felt it. Yes I'm talking about the earthquake on Wednesday night.

I've been through a few small earthquakes here in Montana, but I've never experienced anything like that! Spooky, scary, and maybe even a little exciting all at the same time.

At one point I was sure the walls of my home we're going to cave-in. Fortunately engineers and builders Factor in this type of stress.

In other words an earthquake like that might only happen once every 10 years, but you have to build the structure so it could withstand One every day.

At the time I am writing this I have not heard of any structural damage. I find that pretty amazing with that strong of an earthquake!

How does this apply to our health? Nobody "expects" to develop heart disease or cancer but it is happening to a very high percentage of people.

Just like a house must be built to handle an earthquake, we need to prepare our body to handle the stress of our modern lifestyles and environment.

There are days and weeks when our physical, chemical, and emotional stress are high and weeks and days when it is low. Your goal is for your resistance to be high all the time no matter what the circumstances are.

You do this by focusing on what you can control. Receiving regular corrective chiropractic care is one of the best ways to increase resistance (and the easiest).

Next, decrease chemical stress through the products(shampoo, deodorant, etc)you use as well as the food you eat. Then increase your physical resistance by getting and staying "fit".

SOMETIMES IT TAKES A BROKEN ARM
                                                                       7/1/2017

I remember waking up and not being able to move my arm. Taking a shower was nearly impossible.
That's when I finally decided, yes I guess I should go to the doctor. You see the day before I was skiing and had attempted to do a helicopter.
That's when you go off a jump and attempt to turn 360° while you're in the air. Unfortunately I didn't quite make it all the way around and landed awkwardly on my left arm.
I skied the rest the day with just one ski pole. Hey, I didn't want to miss a whole day of skiing just cause my arm hurt.
When my mom picked me up later that day she suggested that we should go to the emergency room. But I was in ninth grade and the last thing I wanted was to have a cast on my arm.
I guess I thought if I just went to sleep I would be better by tomorrow. But, as I mentioned it was worse and I couldn't move my arm at all.
I did end up getting a cast. You see the innate wisdom inside of me knew much more then my "educated" brain.
That's why the pain got so much worse. It was telling me that I needed to rest and let that arm heal.
Unfortunately today with all the drug commercials out there, we are taught to cover up symptoms and ignore them.
Always ask yourself what is the cause or at least what could be causing your current symptoms. Then attempt to correct that rather than cover up the symptoms.

                                                            DO YOU KNOW THE RULES
                                                                         6/27/2017
My son Evan just started playing organized baseball for the first time. These are mostly boys aged 7 to 9.
At the first practice they were throwing and catching. Then the coach had them start playing a practice game.
One player would practice batting and run the bases while the other players would practice fielding. That's when you realized most of these kids didn't know the rules of the game.
They would hit the ball and then just stand there. They didn't know they were supposed to run to first base.
Or the third baseman would catch a grounder but then didn't know where to throw it next.
All the kids were trying hard but in the beginning they weren't very effective because they didn't know the rules.
Do you know the rules for health and overcoming sickness and disease?
Often I have a new practice members come into my office that are frustrated. They have spent a lot of money and put a lot of effort into trying to overcome a specific symptoms or disease. Or they are trying to get off the medication.
And even though there was no lack of effort, they didn't know the rules. They were never taught them and either was I for many years.
But when I finally learned the rules my health turned around dramatically. And now that's The healthcare system that we practice in our office.

What do you have accomplish or what experiences would make this week awesome? Just think of 1 to 3 things.
Now put those things into your schedule. You just guaranteed yourself an awesome week!
Now as Nike says, just do it.

                                                                     PIZZA ENVY
                                                                        6/22/2017
My middle son's birthday is on July 7th. This past Monday we had an early birthday party for him and his friends.
My wife had designed a bunch of games from the old game show "a minute to win it", for the kids to play.
It was a lot of fun and entertaining to watch the kids play.
We gave the kids pizza for supper just to keep it simple. I knew that I would be arriving home about this time and that I would be hungry.
When we are hungry our will power is low and we tend to make poor decisions.
So I made a good decision when I wasn't hungry. I brought a shake with me to the office and drank it as I drove home. So when I arrived home I wasn't "over hungry" and I could make better decisions.
That meant that I still had some pizza but instead of eight or 10 slices I had just a couple.
Our will power gets run down not just when we're hungry, but also when we're tired or stressed or if you've had to make a bunch of decisions.
Look at your schedule and determine times where your willpower will probably be low. And then be prepared.
Have some healthy snacks or a salad prepared so you don't over eat bad food when your willpower is low.

                                                                  Is it worth it??
                                                                      6/23/2017
My girlfriend Terah(who is now my wife) was struggling. It was her first time to Helena and we were hiking up Mount Helena.
Coming from the lower elevation of Manitoba, Canada she was struggling to catch her breath. She really wanted to stop.
She kept asking, "is the view really that much better on top – it's pretty good right here"? Yes, I promised her, the hike will definitely be worth it.
What she didn't know at the time is I had her engagement ring in my backpack and was planning to propose when we got to the top.
Fortunately, she persevered and I did propose and we been married for almost 15 years now.
Sometimes when we come up against challenges and we stop trying because you're not sure what to do next.
But many times The magic is in the unknown. In other words, certain opportunities would not have shown up in your life if you had not been at the right place at the right time.
Think about some of the places that you've been or the relationships that you developed that you could've never predicted.
We want to be smart about our choices but sometimes the best choice is to just keep moving forward.

Dr. McClain

                                                                    Wow That Hurt!
                                                                         6/22/2017
I was on the floor with a red lightsaber hovering over me. It happened so fast.
One minute I'm up and The next minute I'm on the floor.
Both my son Jasper, who is almost 4 and my other son Evan, who is almost 8 are Star Wars fanatic's.
My son Jasper wanted to play Star Wars with a new red toy lightsaber he had. Jasper is a bit petite and only weighs about 30 pounds. I weigh 185 pounds.
No contest right? But Jasper was lucky or he had really good aim, I'm not sure which. But one of his swings caught me right in the, um, shall we say groin?
And just like that, a 30 pound boy brought a 185 pound man to his knees, literally. David Vs. Goliath.
It reminded me of the saying "small hinges move big doors".
What that means is a very small percentage of the things we do in life get us the results that we desire. And the reality is that we waste a lot of time on things that are not important.
So take a survey of your life and what is really important to you. And then examine where you are spending your time.
If the time you're spending is not in line with the things that are important to you, change it immediately!

Why Did I Agree To That?
                                                                    6/15/2017
Today (Thursday as I write this) we are heading to Holland lake to go camping. We are leaving after lunch and I am in the office this morning adjusting practice members.
I knew that in order to get a workout in today I would have to do it before I came to the office as there would not be any time later.
So I got up at 5 AM and did my normal morning routine and then started my workout. It didn't feel too good to start with.
I had went for a run last evening and therefore my legs were feeling a bit stiff and sore at the beginning of the work out.
So then I started to rationalize (rational lies) The situation. I started to have a conversation in my head.
I'm stiff and sore maybe I should just skip this work out. Maybe I'd be better off not working out, maybe I'm going to injure myself.
See why they are called "rational" lies? They could be true, but usually we are trying to justify not doing something that we should do.
But, I had made an agreement with myself that I was going to work out this morning. So I just kept going.
As the workout progress I felt a little better and it kept getting better. By the time I got done I had A great sweat going and I felt really good.
But I think the most important benefit of that workout was not physical but mental. You see in life we create a lot of trouble for ourselves when we don't keep agreements… With ourselves.
In other words if I would have skipped the work out I would have broke the agreement that I made the night before and it would've set me up for future failures.
Deep in my mind I would have known. And that would've created a domino effect into other areas.
So be aware of the things you tell yourself you're going to do and keep those promises. Especially the small ones that may seem inconsequential.
It might be spending five minutes putting away some tools that you got out. Or putting the dishes away that you said you would do today.
It doesn't matter what the task is, it matters what you said to yourself that you were going to do.
When you start to recognize the small things and follow through on these commitments you will be amazed on the positive momentum it will create in every area of your life!

Dr. McClain

                                                      WING TIPS AND GHOSTS
                                                                       6/11/17

Get the wing up Duane...Duane...get the wing up...(now yelling). Get the wing up!!!

I was pretty sure I was going to die as I watched from the back of a four seat single engine airplane. Oh, did I mention I didn't have on a seatbelt?

The seats were folded down and I was sitting on a cooler instead of seats because the plane was so full. We were flying to Canada.

My dad, Duane, was flying the plane. His friend Jerry, also a pilot, was in the seat next to him. He was the one yelling to get the wing up.

We were coming in for a landing at a tiny little airport near the Canadian border. The weather was bad and there was an extreme crosswind.

The wind was blowing from the left to the right which means the left-wing was dipped down to allow the plane to fly straight. Otherwise we would've been blown off course and missed the runway.

But, The wheels are on the bottom of the plane and they need to touch the ground NOT the wing.

Thankfully my dad was a skilled pilot. He righted the plane at the last second and we landed perfectly.

As we walked into the small airport everybody there looked at us like we were ghosts. I soon found out why...because the weather was so bad we were the only plane flying, in or out, that day and they were amazed that we would fly in this extreme weather.

Why, you ask would we take such risks? We were on our way to Canada for a fishing trip and didn't want to miss any of it.

An hour or so later, even after everyone told us we should not fly, we got back in the plane and finished our trip to Canada. You want to know the funniest part?

Our final leg of the Journey included taking a float plane to a remote lake. But because the weather was so bad, those planes wouldn't fly(they didn't want to risk someone's life for just a fishing trip) and we sat there waiting for two days.

That was a risk not worth taking. But on the other hand I think about my life today and how sometimes I'm not willing to take risks.

I'm not willing to get out of my comfort zone even though I'm not risking my life. Where have you gotten too comfortable? Where do you need to push your boundaries?

One area where you should not take risks? Is with your health. Don't "hope" that your health will be ok, invest your time and money into it.

Marathon, it can't be that hard...
                                                                             6/10/17

Many years ago I decided to run a marathon. I had. been lifting weights for years and I thought, how hard could it be?

The marathon was going to take place in June so I had to start training in January.

That's winter… And I lived in Minnesota at the time.

I hadn't thought about that when I signed up. But I made a mistake.

After I had signed up (key word being AFTER) I mentioned to a couple of friends that I was going to run a marathon.

They both raised their eyebrows and said good luck. But I sensed their sarcasm and lack of belief.

So I started to train… In the 0° weather… And ice… And snow. I wanted to quit.

It was hard. Really hard. The only reason I stuck it out with peer pressure.
I didn't want to look like a quitter. So I stuck it out.

And you know what? It got a little easier.

Running 3 miles was hard. But after some more training, 7 miles was hard and 3 miles was easy.

Pretty soon 15 miles was hard but 10 miles was a joke. My persistence was paying off.

I did end up completing the marathon and it's definitely one of the highlights of my life so far.

In our brains we OVER estimate what we can do in the short term and UNDER estimate what we can do in the long term.

I encourage you to pick something you want to accomplish and start today. With persistence you will be amazed at what you can do.

Oh, I almost forgot. My girlfriend at the time told me when she saw me cross the finish line she knew, at that instant, that she wanted to marry me.

I guess all that training paid off because we now have three kids and have been married almost 15 years!

Never, never, never give up!

AN ELEVATOR, A BILLIONAIRE, AND A DOLLAR OFF COUPON
                                                                       6/9/17

My friend Dr. Mark recently shared with me an interesting story. His brother in law is a former NFL football player and he had invited Dr. Mark to attend a football game in Atlanta many years ago.

Following the game there was a party in one of the private suites at the stadium that Dr. Mark was invited to attend. There were celebrities and billionaires in attendance.

In order to reach the party, Dr. Mark got on an elevator that was full and included 2 billionaires. Now elevator rides can sometimes be uncomfortable-you don't know where to look, you feel like you shouldn't talk.

As the elevator went up, the silence was broken by billionaire Samuel Truett Cathy, the founder and owner of Chick-fil-A, a popular fast food chain. (Now deceased).

He pulled out of his pocket several Chick-fil-A coupons and started handing them out to everyone. Here was a billionaire handing out dollar off coupons!

Why? Because he was passionate about his business and he enjoyed it.

Sometimes I take life too seriously and you probably do as well. The story reminded me to have fun every day.

Either make what you're doing fun or do something else. It's simple as that.

Along with that make sure you make your health a priority. It's hard to have fun, nearly impossible, if you don't have your health.

WHAT GOES DOWN MUST COME UP

Ahhhhh! Who knew walking could be so satisfying?

A little more than a year ago I slipped on the ice and shattered my hip. This required surgery and I was on crutches for 3 1/2 months.

I never truly appreciated the luxury of walking until I lost that luxury.

Today we do so many things to avoid uncomfortable sensations and feelings. But it is difficult to truly appreciate things until you have some contrast.

It's hard to be really happy if you haven't been a little sad. It's hard to know what great energy feels like and less you had some fatigue.

So don't necessarily try to avoid all things uncomfortable, but rather look for the blessing. Look for the pleasure in the little things of life… Like walking or breathing or seeing.

One of the great advantages of corrective chiropractic care is it helps normalize nerve signals which helps you "feel" better. Not just feeling better in terms of symptoms, but feeling in terms of awareness of your environment, your relationships, life overall.

                                              I HAD A PANIC ATTACK!!!
                                                             6/6/17
I was running. Pushing myself faster and faster, hoping I could outrun it. It felt like I was running for my life.
I had never had a panic attack before...but this must be one. My heart and my brain were going a thousand miles an hour.
It was near the end of Chiropractic college.
I had completed parts 1-3 of the boards (there are 4 parts) but you couldn't take part 4 of the boards until you were almost finished with your courses.
And if you didn't pass part 4's, you couldn't get a license and practice. If you couldn't practice, you couldn't make money.
If you can't make money you can't pay your student loan's – which was a lot- of money. Also you would look like a fool.
Did you hear about so-and-so? He went to school for eight years but couldn't pass the boards.
So he's working on his parents farm, Trying to pay off the loans. These are the type of rumors you hear when you are at this stage of school.
This is what started the panic attack. I was out on a run and my mind started wondering.
Except instead of wondering about all the positive possibilities, I was wondering about all the bad things that could happen.
Based on my experience 99% of the negative things that we imagine never come to be. So why do we spend so much time thinking about negative things?
Self-preservation, It's the way that we're wired. But, the good news is you can improve that.
It's called neural plasticity. It's a fancy word for pruning or use it or lose it.
The more you imagine negative things, the stronger that part of your brain gets. But if you make an effort to stop thinking about negative things and fill that space with positive things, it's just like pruning back the bushes.
It takes some mental effort but the reward is huge. Think of just one area of your life that you are thinking negative or stressful thoughts about.
Write down 3 positive possibilities about the situation. For the next week, every time a negative thought comes up, replace it with one of the thoughts you wrote down.
Also, get your spine adjusted. Chiropractic adjustments reduce stress hormones and balance hormones overall, naturally.
This will make it easier to correct the negative thoughts and change your life!

Is Bad Posture Connected To Your Mood?

Whenever you’re sitting at a computer, be conscious of your posture and keep your feet evenly planted on the ground.
As many people are finding themselves spending more time sitting slumped behind a screen or standing on their feet for hours on end without a break, paying attention to your posture is more important than ever.
If you’ve never thought much about whether you’re sitting or standing stance is doing harm to your health, you might want to start before you find yourself in a bad mood.
Here’s why:
Each time we lean forward 60 degrees, the stress placed on our neck is increased dramatically. This can lead to numbness, pain, pinched nerves and improper breathing—none of which are good for your mood! Stress on your neck can also lead to tense upper back and shoulder muscles, resulting in headaches which can be very frequent for some with poor posture.
Your body language is closely related to posture. A slumped stance can make us appear sad, afraid or disinterested to peers leading to different treatment that can bring you down without even realizing it.
In a 2015 article, researchers concluded that when facing a high-stress situation, study participants with good posture maintained a higher self-esteem and mood, while those with poor posture experienced heightened stress and used negative words to describe their experience.

Give Your Body a Boost
As older individuals lose bone density with age, maintaining proper joint function can be difficult.
We’ve all heard the old adage, “Use it or lose it.” It’s especially true when it comes to joint function.
As we age, many of us suffer from a loss of joint mobility. Morning stiffness starts to show up. Or it may take extra time to recover after getting up out of a chair or driving for a long distance. Knees, hips, shoulders and elbows are common culprits. Perhaps less obvious, but even more important are the joints of the spine.
Those of us with the various stresses that come from circling the sun for 40, 50, 60 or more times, start to feel the brunt of the lifelong cumulative effects of insults and injuries to the spine. That’s why chiropractic care later on in life can be especially helpful.
Besides helping to keep spinal joints functioning as optimally as possible, many seniors choose some type of regular chiropractic care for:
Better balance – Falling is often the beginning of the end for the elderly. The inactivity resulting from mending a broken hip can prevent the movement so essential for good health. There is even some research to suggest that chiropractic care can help the elderly maintain better balance.
Increased vitality – With the nervous system focus of chiropractic care, many patients report better sleep, more energy and a greater sense of well-being when they get adjusted regularly.

Time Saving Tips to Improve Your Wellness
Taking action to implement time saving tips can help eliminate stress and clutter from your life.
Need help freeing up hours in your day? As your life gets busier and busier, consider these easy to implement time-saving tips to help lower stress and give you more time to spend with those who matter most.
1. Keep a calendar in plain sight. Whether you’re single or have a big family, keeping a calendar on your fridge for all to see is easier to visualize than just relying on your smartphone. Include all of your activities here—parties, meetings, music lessons and so on. This will help you and your family stay on track and not overschedule.
2. Prepare your meals for the week. Making a meal menu and preparing food in advance can help save hours every day. Even if you aren’t able to make meals for the entire week at once, making larger batches to eat as leftovers can be a big time saver later in the week.
3. Pay your bills all at once. Set aside a few minutes every other week to pay any upcoming bills. Online banking now makes paying your bills easier than ever. Consider setting up direct debits from your account to save even more time each month.
4. Implement TV time. It’s incredibly easy to “overspend” your free time on the sofa binge-watching the latest Netflix show. Instead of losing precious hours to TV, try scheduling a set time each day, starting with sixty minutes.
5. Create an evening routine. Instead of rushing around in the morning trying to get things together for your day, take fifteen minutes before bed to prepare a few things you know you’ll have to do in the morning. This will help your day get off to a stress-free start.
Looking for more ways to improve your wellness? Make sure you’re scheduling routine visits with us to maintain your spinal health and help avoid injuries that could disrupt your life.

Four Habits of a Happy Spine
happy-spine
Are you making healthy choices for your spine?
We often experience pain when something isn’t working properly. By that logic, feeling good would mean that everything is working fine, right? Not always. Because it’s often easier to tell when your spine isn’t as healthy as it could be, we’d like to share four habits of a happy, healthy spine.
1. It’s carried well.
For a healthy spine, good posture is crucial. This doesn’t mean just standing up straight when you’re moving about, but also being conscious of how you sit when you’re at work or home and even how you sleep in your bed.
2. There’s always time for exercise.
A happy, healthy spine needs regular exercise to function well. So, what’s the best way to exercise your spine? Work the muscles around it like your abs so they’re strong enough to maintain its proper position.
3. It gets proper nutrients.
When we eat healthily, chances are we’re more conscious of how it may help our clothes fit well than what it does for our nervous system. A healthy diet high in leafy greens and vegetables can help our body better accommodate stress and allow our nervous system to function optimally.
4. Your spine is well rested.
Not getting enough sleep each night can wreak havoc on our entire body—including our spine. Your spine helps you stay upright all day, and it needs its time to relax and rejuvenate just like the rest of you. Make sure your spine is supported during sleep and avoid stomach slumber when possible.
Could your spine use some love? Contact our practice today to book an appointment.
